Pain
Pain can have a considerable negative impact on your daily life. Perhaps you can no longer perform your job properly because of pain. The word “pain” derives from the word “poena”, which means “penalty” in Latin. That is why, in Chinese medicine, treating pain always has the highest priority.
Pain is a sign that somewhere in the body a blockage has occurred in the meridians. With acupuncture, we can treat many different forms of pain. As a result, you can get back to doing your job as usual with little or no pain.
In addition to acupuncture, methods such as cupping and moxa (heat) are eminently suitable for restoring movement to the meridians, which can reduce or eliminate pain. Do you suffer from pain and it seems impossible to get rid of it? Contact our practice for an appointment.
We have extensive experience in treating a variety of painful conditions such as:
- Frozen shoulder
- Shoulder pain
- Slipped disc
- Back pain
- Knee pain
- Headache
- Migraine
- Facial pain
- Chronic pain
Acupuncture for stress & burnout
Figures show that women are more likely to suffer a burnout than men. A busy job, caring for children and sometimes parents, plus maintaining social contacts can cause long-term overload. You feel constantly stressed, or maybe you don’t even pick up the signals anymore. Overload and additional stress deplete the body, with major health consequences.
In this state, the body constantly produces stress hormones such as cortisol. We often see elevated cortisol and emotional stresses translate into physical complaints such as insomnia, body aches and pains, and intestinal problems.
These symptoms are the most common in the case of a burnout and too much stress:
- Depression
- Insomnia
- Extreme fatigue
- Anxiety
- Tension
- Intestinal problems
- Headache
- Abdominal pain
Effect of acupuncture for stress & burnout
With acupuncture, nutrition and herbs, the first thing to treat in the case of burnout is the chronic lack of energy in your body. It also helps your body and mind relax, which you can sometimes experience even after the first treatment. Acupuncture also helps relieve stress-related physical symptoms.
In general, you will experience greater resilience to carry the load and you will feel strengthened in indicating your boundaries. That way, you won’t easily lapse into the same situation again.
Skin problems
In today’s society, a great deal of value is placed on a person’s appearance. Chronic skin disease therefore has a major impact on quality of life. Besides complaints such as itching, flaking and pain, the emotional and social consequences are often quite profound.
In skin diseases, there is an underlying internal problem that manifests itself through the skin. This internal problem could be a malfunctioning internal organ, retention of waste products, or a weakened immune system. There are also external factors that aggravate skin problems such as certain cosmetics, wrong eating habits, and insufficient hydration.
Common skin conditions include eczema, acne, psoriasis and chronic itching. Skin problems can be treated effectively with acupuncture. During the treatment, in addition to acupuncture, you often receive nutritional advice and we prescribe herbs.
Cosmetic acupuncture
Your appearance, your face, is literally the expression of the body. The job of the facial muscles is to express your emotion on your face, which as a result practically acts as a screen. A prolonged emotion is more likely to cause lines on your face locally.
Cosmetic acupuncture improves blood flow and collagen production, resulting in a reduction in the lines: light wrinkles disappear and deep furrows become less deep.
Since the lines do not actually originate in the face but arise from the body, the body is also treated along with them. Besides a rejuvenation in appearance, overall vitality will be better after the treatments.
Number of cosmetic acupuncture treatments
Twice a week for the first month, then once a week. A minimum of 12 treatments are often needed. To maintain the effect, you can come back to us once a month if you wish.
Acupuncture for facial paralysis
Facial paralysis can occur suddenly and the cause is often difficult to identify. In the case of facial paralysis, asymmetry develops in the face with a drooping corner of the mouth and an open eye. It is very scary when this happens suddenly.
Facial paralysis can be treated effectively with acupuncture, often reducing the symptoms significantly. Using acupuncture, we ensure that the flow of blood and energy improves and the facial muscles are activated. Immediately after treatment, improvement can already be seen, such as the eye closing better and less tension in the face.
